You Make A Difference
by Doris Davis CPS/CAPA wise man was taking a sunrise walk along the beach. In the distance he caught sight of a young man who seemed to be dancing along the waves. As he got closer he saw that the young man was picking up STARFISH from the sand them gently back into ocean.
“What are you doing?” the wise man asked.
“The sun is coming up and the tide is going out; if I don’t throw them back, they’ll die.”
“But young man, there are miles and miles of beach with STARFISH all along it; you can’t possibly make a difference.”
The young man bent down, picked up another STARFISH, and threw it lovingly back into the ocean, past the breaking waves.
“It made a difference to that one,” he replied.
The young man’s actions represent something special in all of us. We all are gifted with the ability to make a difference. Each of us can shape our own future and influence the future of others. Each of us has the power to help our organizations reach their goals.
